Precinct Delegate Information
Candidates who wish to appear on the August 2, 2022 ballot must complete the Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing and file with the Wayne County Clerk's Office by 4:00 p.m. May 3, 2022. Candidates who wish to be a Write-In Candidate must complete the Precinct Delegate Write-In Candidate Declaration of Intent and file by 4 p.m. the Friday, July 29, 2022, with the Wayne County Clerk's office or on Election Day with the precinct board.
Nomination Petitions
Trenton Public Schools - School Board Trustee (Two - Six Year Terms)
Election Date: November 8, 2022
Filing deadline: Tuesday, July 26, 2022, by 4:00 p.m.
Submit:
- Nominating Petitions with a minimum of 40 valid registered electors of the city signatures, no more than 60 signatures or filing fee of $100.00.
- Affidavit of Identity and Receipt of Filing.
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- An individual is eligible for election as a school board member if the individual is a citizen of the United States and is a qualified and registered elector of the school district the individual seeks to represent by the filing deadline.
Deadline to withdraw candidacy (in writing): Friday, July 29, 2022, before 4:00 p.m.
Candidate packets are available at the City Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

THE MISSION OF THE CLERK’S DEPARTMENT
The mission of the Clerk’s Office is to provide accurate and courteous service to our citizens and our visitors. As official Keeper of the Records for the City, the Clerk’s Office provides clerical services to the City Council both in the preparation of its agendas and taking minutes of its meetings. All original minutes of the Council are kept and archived.
All birth and death certificates occurring in the City of Trenton are kept and certified copies are made available to those individuals eligible to purchase them. Licenses are issued in the Clerk’s Office, such as: animal licenses, food or ice cream truck, massage licenses, mechanical amusement devices, peddlers and transient merchant licenses.
The Clerk’s Office also conducts the filing of all petitions, lawsuits, subpoenas, and Freedom of Information requests. The Clerk’s Office conducts all elections in accordance with State and Federal law. The Clerk also administers the Oath of Office to all City Officials, Police Officials, Board and Commissioner Members. The City Clerk’s Office also provides a notary service (some fees may apply for Notary Services).
