Trenton Cultural Center Classes:

Mini Fairy Garden Workshop

Create your very own "fairy" garden in this one-hour workshop. This class is perfect for ages (4 and older) and the young at heart! Potting and plant materials are provided, along with some whimsical accessories to get you started! We'll also roam the gardens and grounds of the Trenton Cultural Center to gather unique flowers and additions to personalize each students work of art. This class is limited to 20 participants. This is a drop-off program for ages 7+ and anyone under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Craft Hours

Looking for something for both you AND your kiddo to do?

Fee includes one class on the selected day/time, a fun craft and snack. While the kids are crafting, we'll have the Westfield Patio open for parents/guardians to enjoy a cup of coffee, relax and catch up with neighbors and friends!

The Art of Play

It’s time to play and learn while we’re at it! This group will meet at the Cultural Center for an hour of nature-based activities, including painting the weather, summertime poetry, creating art inspired by and from natural materials, starting seeds and observing plant growth, exploring the grounds, gardens and butterfly house, and learning about our local wildlife and habitat. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay with their child during this class!

Join Mad Science for some active learning with friends & neighbors! A great way to stay & play and have the Best Summer Ever!!

Get weather-wise. Uncover the reason for seasons. Create three-day weather forecasts. Stage a statically-charged indoor storm. Spot the sun’s invisible UV rays with the Sun Beads™ kit.

June 29th: Life In The Sea Mad Science Workshop

What is life like under the ocean's surface? What kind of animals and plants are found in the sea? Examine and investigate starfish, sea urchins and shells. Learn about buoyancy and adaptation. Make your own Cartesian diver, and find out what humans must do in order to explore the deep, dark depths of our planet's oceans. 

July 11th: Dry Ice Capades Mad Science Workshop
Manipulate matter in all of its three states! Melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice! Use your Thermocolor Kool Cup™ to test the temperature of liquid matter in your home!
 

July 29th: Fantastic Fliers Mad Science Workshop

Fly through flight and aerodynamics basics! Discover the four forces that affect flight. Make and test various plane designs to see these forces in action! Build your flier to take home and fling it forward! 

August 5th: Energy Burst! Mad Science Workshop
Explore the energy of motion (potential versus kinetic energy), and how energy can be conserved. Launch the Mad Science Spring Thing™ to help learn all about energy — and shock your friends.

August 17th: Movie Effects Mad Science Workshop

Discover why science is the real star on the big screen. Create cool sound effects. Toy with 3-D technology. Make motion pictures come alive. Sketch a short feature in the Cartoon Creator™ flipbook.
