Traffic and Operations Division

The Traffic Section of the Traffic and Operations Division is responsible for both parking issues and signage throughout the city. The traffic section handles requests, concerns, and safety issues for parking and other traffic-related concerns. This section also coordinates officers in the police department for targeted enforcement of speeding violations, safety issues, and abandoned vehicles.

Part of the mission of the Traffic Section is to provide safer streets for our community. The section provides traffic law enforcement both generally and selectively throughout the community.

General enforcement is when the Traffic Section randomly selects locations to check for traffic violations.

Selective enforcement is when officers are sent to specific areas such as intersections or areas where a high number of accidents are occurring or responding to citizen complaints of ongoing traffic offenses in specific areas.

Traffic Concerns

Law enforcement can make a positive impact on increasing safety belt use rates through enforcement and education, removing impaired drivers from the streets before they are involved in crashes, or reducing the incidence of dangerous speed violations.  If you have a traffic concern, such as dangerous speeding in your neighborhood or other issues, please contact our Traffic and Operations Division at 734-676-4230.

The Operations section of the Division is tasked with developing deployment plans and coordinating operations in relation to any special events that occur in the community. From Trenton's Summer Festival to Winterfest, the operations section coordinates with other city services and surrounding agencies to make sure these events proceed as safely and as smoothly as possible.
