Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic

Full-Time Firefighter/EMT-Basic

Currently accepting applications for full-time Firefighter/Paramedic and/or full-time Firefighter/EMT-Basic with the Trenton Fire Department. Applicants must have completed Fire 1, Fire 2, and be certified minimally as an EMT-Basic at the time of hire. CPAT must be obtained within the probationary period. Applicants must meet all City employment standards, including an excellent driving record. Selected candidates must successfully complete a thorough background investigation, oral interview, physical exam including drug screen, and psychological exam.

Wages start at $44,405 for a FF/EMT-Basic, $48,453 for FF/Paramedic, and reach a maximum of $68,692 after 5 years of service as a FF/Paramedic. A comprehensive benefits package is provided including health, dental, optical, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan. Applicants hired as a FF/EMT-Basic will have 9 months, or 2 NREMT testing attempts, whichever is first, to obtain a Paramedic license.

Full-Time Police Officer

To maintain a list of qualified applicants for upcoming full-time Police Officer vacancies with the Trenton Police Department. Applicants must be either a certified police officer or be MCOLES certifiable as a police officer in the State of Michigan, at the time of hire. Strongly prefer a minimum of an associate’s degree or completion of 60 credit hours in law enforcement or related curriculum. Applicants must meet all MCOLES and City employment standards, including an excellent driving record. Selected candidates must successfully complete a thorough background investigation, oral interviews, physical exam including drug screen, and psychological evaluation.

Wages for Patrol Officer beginning July 1, 2021, start at $46,811 and reach a maximum of $71,679 after 5 years of service. A comprehensive benefits package is provided including health, dental, optical, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan. Police Officers with certified police officer experience are eligible for up to 2 years of immediate lateral pay adjustments to a maximum starting base pay rate of $56,414.

DPS - Laborer

The City of Trenton is seeking applicants for a full-time Laborer within our Department of Public Service. This position is primarily responsible for refuse collection. CDL-B license is required at the time of hire.

 Pay is $17.991 - $21.961 depending on experience and qualifications.

PART-TIME POSITIONS

Public Safety Dispatcher

The City of Trenton is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher. 

Rate of Pay: 

  • Day Shift: $18.52 / Hr
  • Midnight Shift: $19.52 / Hr
  • Overtime eligible

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Emergency 911 operator service;
  • Computer-aided dispatch
  • Clerical Tasks

IT Computer Technician

The City of Trenton is seeking a regular part-time position for the Information Technology Department. The position will perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the City. They will respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer Hardware.

Applicant should have knowledge of computer workstation setup; computer hardware and software applications; ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals; install and maintain network cables and hardware; ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs; other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The applicant is expected to be proficient in the knowledge and skills above, trustworthy, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organized, and ability to multi-task, and manage time effectively with multiple projects. 

The successful applicant will be expected to be able to sit, stand, crouch, and crawl for extended periods of time; may be exposed to loud noises, noxious odors, confined spaces, and heights; lifts items frequently at or above 20 pounds without help.

$15-20 per hour DOQE. Up to 25 hours per week.

Rink Supervisor

The City of Trenton is seeking applicants to fill a part-time position for a Rink Supervisor. The following are the job details for this position: 

• The Shift Supervisor will assist the rink manager and operations coordinator with daily ice arena operations such as planning and implementation of associated work tasks as well as supervise the staff to ensure proper completion of tasks.
• Listen, communicate, and work effectively with guests, staff, supervisors, and management in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform multiple functions at once and the ability to handle the public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Establish tasks to ensure a clean workplace, this includes stocking supplies and maintaining clean restrooms and public areas.
• Assist staff members with proper work methods and standards, monitor work quality, ensure adherence to time and break schedules, safe work practices and provide performance feedback.
• Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the ice arena area including sweeping, cleaning, and other custodial duties including restroom cleanliness.
• Monitor all public session skating events both on and off the ice.
• Operation of the point of sale system.
• Maintain rental skates, boots, and monitor if the blade and/or boot repair is needed.
• Complete any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Willing to learn Zamboni Operations.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Rink Attendant

The City of Trenton is seeking applicants to fill a part-time position for a Rink Attendant. The following are the job details for this position:

• Participate in keeping all areas of the facility neat, clean, and safe at all times. These duties include sweeping and mopping the rink restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, lobby, meeting rooms, bleachers and removing trash, cleaning rink glass, etc.
• Maintain rental skates, boots, and monitor if the blade and/or boot repair is needed.
• Adding/removing hockey nets from the ice rinks, unlock team locker rooms and retrieve hockey pucks if needed for daily events and activities.
• Monitor all public session skating events both on and off the ice.
• Provide excellent customer service at all times and ensure that all policies are properly implemented.
• Adhering to all policies and procedures that are implemented.
• Complete any necessary paperwork such as accident/incident reports and inventory.
• Operation of the point of sale system.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
•    Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Zamboni Driver

The City of Trenton is seeking applicants to fill a part-time position for a Zamboni Driver. The following are the job details for this position:

• Operate and drive the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine, edge conditioning, and other motorized equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of ice cuts, blade changes, and preventative maintenance.
• Operate the scoreboard. Training will be provided.
